L-Money Welcome Newb, now get me a beer!

JoePa Fires Fran Ganter as OC

I heard it last night on Sportingnews radio. I think they said Ganter is still part of the program, but is not a coach anymore. I don't remember who they said was the new OC, but I think he used to play at Penn State and was a coach at Florida for a while. Chief17 or someone else may have more info. I don't know all the facts, but this is what I heard. Whatever happened to getting Rick Nuhisel?

Ganter took an administrative post within the athletic department.

Former Florida coach Galen Hall is the new OC and running backs coach.

Mike McQuery also joined the staff but reports have JayPa remaining as QB coach.

Galen Hall has a good rep as a football coach but a dubious rep otherwise. He apparently was involved in direct cash payments to players while at UF.

How long has Galen Hall been at Florida and did he coach under Spurrier? What was his position at Florida?

That's not good then because that's why they brought in Spurrier. What has Galen Hall been doing for the past few years?

Ganter basically quit. He had had enough of the program and also is still dealing with an off-the-field tragedy (his wife passed away suddenly in 2003). Hall was I believe the head coach or OC of the Rhein Fire of NFL Europe.

As for Neuheisal, Paterno was asked yesterday if Neuheisal would be on the staff and he didn't deny it. He praised Neuheisal's ability as a coach and said he's a good friend. The word is he may be joining the staff as a graduate assistant, ironically, the same exact thing they did with Galen Hall in 1990 when he was axed from Florida.
