Regardless of what you think of Soto, the Phillies obliterated the Tigers in this trade.

Gregory Soto & Kody Clemens to the Philadelphia Phillies for Nick Maton, Donny Sands and Matt Vierling.

Clemens is a better bench piece than anyone from Maton, Sands & Vierling. Phillies did a great job of internal assessment of the future (non-)necessity of Vierling & Maton. Everyone needs catching, but the only job Sands has now is in the Mexican League.

I know that Stubbs contract is very cheap but even at that price, isn't there better options out there than him. He can't hit at all and his defense doesn't seem to be great. Maybe I am way off here though

Phillies best hope is Marchan getting healthy in the minors and being a capable MLB backup.
The state of catching depth around MLB is trash right now. Several teams have guys who couldn't hit their way out of a paper bag as starters.

Nola does his usual thing and give up two home runs. ... And it hasn't hurt them.

A lot could happen between now and Turner's return. But at this point I'm thinking the roster move is probably to DFA Pache and keep Clemens up.
Dahl and Luplow are veteran outfielders at Triple-A who give us depth if needed.

Dominguez is constantly behind in counts. Can't throw strikes. Stuff is still fine.
