If he bounces back, the lineup probably has enough L-R balance in the middle, and you can go for either a RH hitter or the best available bat. ... But if they are down on Gregorious, I think it makes sense to go after a LH bat, right?
I think Bohm's best position might actually be LF but this is one case where I'm glad they disagree because you know they'd be sticking him out there with Didi at 3B if they could.

Every year it's "pay up to the tax but don't go over it" which means they have a bunch of holes that need fixing so at the trade deadline they need to make moves that will either put them over the tax or they don't make enough moves to be worth anything.
I FIRMLY believe they will not go over the cap early in this spring, but what has been promised is that if they are truly in contention in July, they will make a move to fix any holes...that will take them over the top of the tax. But we are talking about being 10-15 games over .500, not barely over.

I just hate the way they do business. Moves that feel like lateral moves at best and slight stepbacks at worst just because it keeps the books cleaner and they can commit to 1 year instead of 2. That's loser franchise stuff not WS contender franchise things.

Sadly I have to agree with you on this. I truly hate everything they have done this off-season other than Knebel. Famila and Hand are a joke, especially at those prices...their back catchers are worse than Knapp and even without an injury, I could see the backup Catcher starting at least 40 games. Didi will DH on most days with JT DHing mostly when LHP is going

Eagles

Marcus Smith 26
Agholor 20
Wentz 2
Barnett 14
Dillard 22
Reagor 21

Flyers

Not one star in the past 10 years of drafting, some decent players and some total busts
Nolan Patrick 2
Wentz was the best first round pick in Eagles history - directly led to a SB win

That is all that matters

Wentz the player - big letdown, but the pick led to the desired result

In possibly good news, the Mariners' big trade with the Reds probably takes them out of the Kris Bryant running. (They had concerned me as a Bryant suitor)

Also, if I were the Phillies' GM, I'd look into acquiring Votto to DH from the Reds' fire sale.

=============

The trade, BTW: Cincinnati will receive Justin Dunn, Brandon Williamson and Jake Fraley from the Mariners for Winker and Suarez

C: Realmuto
1B: Hoskins
2B: Segura
SS: Stott
3B: Bohm
LF: a scarecrow or mannequin
CF: Herrera/Vierling
RF: Harper
DH: Gregorious
I think their pitching will do them in more than the lineup

That's a great deal for the Mariners.
