As much as the underdog narrative is cool, you can also make an argument that the Phillies and Padres were the NL's two biggest regular season underachievers, given their rosters & payrolls. Yes, like everyone they had major injuries. But they also got healthier at the right time, compared especially to Braves, Dodgers and even Cardinals. If Helsley is healthy, we're in Offseason Thread time most likely.
All of which is to say, enjoy October. All that matters is still playing baseball.
Too much credit is given to the W-L records of the NL West champions over the last few seasons. Their record has been padded by playing a ton of games against the Rockies and Diamondbacks and an under achieving Padres club.
