I think Topper stays the course if they lose, and pitch Nola game 5, Wheeler game 6.

If they win, then you have more flex and can go Nola game 4, Wheeler game 5, and then mix and match 6 and 7 should it go there...

I wouldn't want to be down 3-1, or go back to Houston down 3-2 and not have my best guys available in elimination games...

They are clearly worried about Wheeler as they remove the option of starting him in game 5 if down 3-1

Big concern for tomorrow is that the Phils have never won a game in November

You could still use him out of the pen should it get hairy right out of the gate in game 5.

Me? I'm trying to be positive here saying we're tied, or up at this point, and go back to Houston with your best bullet in the chamber.

Who knows how it will all turn out, but this seems to be the best approach. We are dealing with far more finite pitching resources than Houston, so Thomson's just trying the best chess game he has. I also think we'll continue to see the approach of: If it's the 5th or 6th and a win is within reach, he'll go all out with multiple innings of Alvarado/Dominguez to try for the W -- tomorrow be damned.

Phils need to score at least 5 to have a shot tonight and need to score some early to take some pressure off their pitching
