This is one reason why I believe Dumbrowski has to have some misgivings about bringing Thomson back.

They all do. The at bats are all about seeing enough pitches to get deep in a pen. It's not even about the at bat. The purpose of these at bats isn't to produce hits/runs, it's to get the starter out of the game and attack the pen.

There is no more hitting off the fastball and adjusting to offspeed. There's very little staying inside the baseball with this team and they suffer for it.
