Dodgers do it right. They're great at development but they just sign whoever is good and if their young players force their way into things it's gravy for them.

Harper should have taken the Dodgers' 4/180 offer.
That was an offer that properly valued his peak years.
He'd have at least one ring.

With Freeman in LA, Padres must be itching to do something dumb. Phillies should keep an open line with them.

The Padres are looking to dump Eric Hosmer and Will Myers. Either one would help the Phils, but their salaries are ridiculous. They couldn't take one if the Padres picked up half the money.

Cards sign Dickerson 1/5

Would have been a decent 4th OF/DH pick-up

Going to be a long season with the lack of depth; 9th bat issues, Vierling/Camargo/Williams going to get way more at bats than they should

not saying they would but they could absolutely do Hosmer if the Pads pick up money. He's owed $59MM/4. Half would be a little over $7MM per.

Yeah, I was going to say the same about Homser. He makes $21 this year, followed by 3/39 (13 AAV) from 2023 to 2025.

If the Padres simply picked up half of his 2022 salary, then he's $10.5M this year, which fits into what Phillies have left before the CBA tax.

Hosmer at 1B and Hoskins at DH bolsters the lineup and the bench considerably.

And yeah, Dickerson, would have been a good bat too. If there's not another full-time bat coming, they at least must improve the depth/bench,

So 13.5 million for a really good platoon in Cutch and Miller. I would have brought them both back.

I wasn't too keen on Archie and bringing him back but I have to say 1/3.5 and no DV suspension is a lot more appealing than who they replaced him with.
