OK, I'm sure we're just going to be set up for a huge letdown, but the national folks are reporting that the Phillies are still "in" on Castellanos.

That would be the game-changer we need in this tough division, with so many offensive question marks and the opportunity brought by the DH

Again, a lot of this can hinge on Gregorious, too.

If the Phillies think he's looking OK and would be comfortable with Gregorious at SS and Stott at 2B, there would be a market to trade Segura, off-setting Castellanos' salary.

while I would be ok with that, boy oh boy, the defense would be putrid

I like Nicky C but if you're paying the tax at that point should probably just go for Story or Correa (lol) since they fit a lot better.

By re-signing Odúbel Herrera, the Phillies are complicit in a culture of domestic violence | Opinion

We would all love it, but remember this is the Phillies. This is most likely a public relations leak.

I agree about the defense. It's the worst in baseball, but it's too late to fix it for this season, so let's
just out score teams.

STARK-BOMB.

NEED THIS.

#Phillies in serious pursuit of Nick Castellanos, sources tell

Castellanos would put Phillies well over tax threshold. But they appear to view him as a big enough difference maker to justify that

Castellanos could push Kyle Schwarber to DH

was on it

Wow Bryce Harper must have been really emphatic with the FO.

He publicly asks for one of the big bats.

Then the night before they sign Schwarber he met with Middleton and Dombrowski to tell him how he feels and they sign Schwarber and maybe Nicky C?

I appreciate them listening to him, they needed to act with urgency and glad Bryce conveyed it.

I don't get the talk of how signing Castellanos makes the defense WORSE than right now. It would see the defense remaining the same.
Basically, whoever plays a better LF between Castellanos & Schwarber should go there, with the other one at DH

Castellanos, Schwarber and even Realmuto can play 1B occasionally, depending who you want to rotate into the lineup.

So, yeah, the defense is subpar, but I don't think Castellanos makes it WORSE
