News on Reed:
“I’ve been advised to keep an eye on Utah as a team that could furnish an offer sheet to Sixers restricted free agent Paul Reed. Can the Jazz (or any team) an assemble an offer sheet that dissuades Philadelphia from matching? The Sixers are said to be intent on retaining Reed,”. - Marc Stein
3/$23. Seems like the Sixers have to match that no?
I'd be surprised

If Sixers match the sheet, they will exceed the $165M luxury tax threshold and incur an additional $14M in luxury tax penalties.
Reed would have veto power on a trade for a year if he remains with Sixers.

One of the terms of the offer sheet provides a unique twist: The first season of the contract is fully guaranteed and the two following become guaranteed for $15.7 million if Reed’s team advances to conference semi-finals in the 2023-24 season, sources said.

Would mean $14 MM in luxury tax. Let’s see what the owners do on this. I’ll state the obvious. This has been a horrific offseason so far.

We're not at the Embiid trade request yet, but we can see it coming if we stand on the front porch.

In all seriousness, this is sabotage. I don't see how this is any different then how Colangelo dismantled this team by systematically dumping young players, draft picks and squandering cap space.

Let’s all please remember that ownership and the decision makers are much smarter than we are as casual fans and that they have a plan that we can’t conceive or even think of. At least that’s what I’ve been told. I should just believe them right?

The official:
[The Philadelphia 76ers are matching restricted free agent Paul Reed's three-year, $23-million offer sheet that he signed with the Utah Jazz, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.]
