So weird not to at least finish with a day game at Wrigley

Padres have really fallen apart

Machado down to a 690 OPS

I am not pleased. I expected a 2:20pm start, at least once. Harden about to be traded made up for it.

When is Preller going to walk the plank for his failures in SD? I’ve never seen a GM fail as much as he has there and never been held accountable for it. If he had been the GM of the Phillies and did here what he has done there, he’d have been tossed off of the Ben Franklin bridge years ago.

That said, it's hard to point to what's specifically the WRONG move.
In retrospect they Machado extension doesn't look great, but they also still had Tatis concerns.

Honestly, the wrong moves might have been the ones they didn't make. They made so many bold moves yet they allowed the Dodgers to steal Scherzer out from under them in 2021 at the deadline, and it made the difference for two teams.

Speaking of Scherzer .... should/would the Phillies get involved if he's available???

He has a 43m player option for next year - I just don't see the Phils willing to pay that.

What if that strained the market for him, though?

My main opposition to Scherzer is that I don't want to trade any of our, say, top 8-10 prospects.

But if the market is scared by the salary and you can get Scherzer for lesser farmhands, do you have to at least sleep on the idea?
