Every fan boy (all sports) need to get off their damn high horses and let the kids grow a little. Rojas is a kid still.
It took Jimmy Rollins 5 years before he was a true All-Star. Took Utley 5 as well. Like Bel Said. Jayson Werth was a 27 year old cast off who found his stride with Our Gang.
Schmidt hit .182 his first year in the majors.
We're still waiting on Ricky Jordan. But I digress...
I get that this may be the best year to win it all again, but you got to let the young players grow a little. You want to put Rojas in a package, you better get Soto back in return.

Rojas's defense more than makes up for his current deficiencies at the plate. If Castellanos and March (or even Pache) were playing better, then this would be a non-issue.Captain Obvious wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 8:05 pm Every fan boy (all sports) need to get off their damn high horses and let the kids grow a little. Both Castellanos and Stotts have been as bad or worse until Castellanos' recent hitting.
I will gladly take Rojas' bat, allowing a 23yo to grow to have that glove. Rojas is 5 years from the beginning of prime years. Not every guy is a star out of the box. Werth didn't come into his own until 27/28.
Assuming a young player will just continue to improve is a common fallacy so I see why you fall for it.
And worth in his first season with any sort of real at bats put up an .800 OPS.
Johan Rojas in his first full season is putting up a .550 OPS.
And no Rojas has been significantly worse than Stott even with Stott having a down year. Stott also plays a much more important defensive position.

Rojas is the least of this team's concerns.
He literally saves runs with his glove. I notice how you ignore Stott and Castellanos, even Marsh. Of nonemkfnthrm hit, they're useless in the field. A net negative.
Worrying about him is like shiney keys to a kid, so I see why you'd fall for it. See? I can play that.game, too.
