Harper is so far in the woods,it’s a joke
Thomson seems clueless as to how to shake this team up
Same stale lineup day after day
Is this 1964 60 years later?

This guy has thrown a ton of pitches right in the center of the zone. We can't hit it.

This is utter crap. Complete nonsense. He will suggest being aggressive early when the situation warrants, that's when pitchers are throwing fastballs in the zone to get ahead. He stresses level swings and using the entire field.Helios1989 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 03, 2024 3:15 am He has taught this his whole career. He is all about being aggressive and swinging for power. He has been gifted unreal talent every stop he has coached. .
Right now? It's...
Lack of patience.
Lack of plate awareness.
Lack of plate discipline.
Over swinging.
This is not what Kevin Long teaches. All you have to do is think of how the Nationals used to swing the bats.
These guys are trying to tie this game with one swing. It's 9-0.
This is a team of hardheads. Harper, Turner, Schwarber, Realmuto and Castellanos have always swung too hard, always had poor plate discipline and swung for the fences. They are uncoachable, especially in a slump. They all think a HR solves all their problems. They ALL were like this before Kevin Long. Long was brought in to solve the issue.

Kevin Long is not a center of the field approach guy. That is utter nonsense. He stresses lifting the ball and being aggressive.

Long wants to avoid rolling over on the ball but he doesn't espouse putting the ball in the air. His idea of launch angle is to produce line drives, hard hit balls. But he does want his hitters using the whole field, especially the gaps.
All you have to do is look at Schwarber's new approach this season and his use of LCF. He's hitting lefties because he's laying back and using LCF.

The other example is what they've been working on with Rojas and getting him to actually put the ball on the ground to utilize his speed. They want him to avoid swinging hard and putting the ball in the air
Let's also add Bohm's breakout season and his whole field approach, especially the number of doubles to RCF, his hits down the RF line.
The perfect example of the Kevin Long approach is Bohm.
