Per Shams Sixers will pursue Harden before the deadline and Nets are now willing to talk.

This makes me think the smoke about Harden wanting to come here in the offseason is legit and Brooklyn is shitting their pants

[Sources: The Philadelphia 76ers are expected to pursue Brooklyn's James Harden ahead of NBA trade deadline Thursday – and the Nets are now open to discussing a deal.]

Details on @TheAthletic: https://t.co/asdsGS0Sht

I don't like it, but there it is. I think this winds up as a disappointment, Embiid will be blamed and it will lead to a complete rebuild for 22-23. I could be wrong but I see a weird mix and a team that still can't defend hyper athletic wings, still won't rebound, will be even slower and lead to Curry and Harris standing around waiting. I don't even know what this does to Maxey and his development. Better not include him in the deal, telling you that right now.

The plan would be to take two title shots with Harden and not re-sign him after the 2023 playoffs, right?
Right??

[Charania also reported there are "growing concerns" over Harden's hyper-ball-dominant playing style not meshing with Kevin Durant and Irving's approach.]

See? This is exactly what I was talking about. So much of Harden's game is bringing the ball up, pounding the dribble and running around picks and screens until he gets a mismatch he thinks he can exploit. What the fuck is Embiid supposed to do, set picks and wait for lobs? Wait his turn to go one on one?

I just don't think Harden is the best match with Embiid.

Man, that's a dangerous game to play because there would be no assets left, nothing but Embiid and you're hoping you can convince people to come to Philadelphia, which has never, ever been a destination city.

If they trade Maxey, I may boycott.

Hell, I may have to come back to the city and visit some folks.

And what makes the match even worse is the timing. Add him in the offseason and you have a whole season to work out the on-court kinks. But you add him now to a team that's playing well and has a legitimate chance in the East. With a coach who isn't exactly brilliant with square pegs and round holes?

My point is that I don't want to give Harden a 4/180 extension at age 34. I'd rather take my shot elsewhere in free agency after 2023, I think.

Don’t think Maxey goes.

Maxey is the hedge against a Harden step back.

Thibking Thybulle might go.
