Since Schwarber would likely be a shorter deal, I don't see how he's cost much less than Bryant in 2022, so they might actually be better off with Bryant on a 5-6 year deal, spreading out the money.

Schwarber had a hot May and June which caught everyone's attention. The rest of the season was not as strong. Check his home and away splits. His away ones are a problem. Add to that that he is a butcher in the field.

People don't understand the CF market and that there are no other real options.

Teams are tryna truck the Phillies for good, not great CFers. They want Stott. That's a no for me, dog.

They're gonna spend in LF and perhaps one other position.

I'm moving Bohm to 1B, Hoskins is my DH, maybe sign a LF and 3B.

The only realistic CFer I'd go after in a Stott deal would be Bryan Reynolds. I like Kiermaier, but not at what seems to be the price the Rays wanted teams to meet. The Pirates are starting to finally build some talent, but aside from Ke'Bryan Hayes, offense is still 3 or so years down the pipeline.

Bohm must move to 1B. Hoskins must move to DH. Doing that and signing Bryant to play 3B makes your infield defense better while helping the offense. With Bryce, JT, Bryant, Hoskins & Bohm in the lineup, this team doesn't need a big bat to play LF. Find a cheaper option that can play the field at a high level - such as Kevin Pillar. See if he'll take a fair offer for 1-2 years ($3M per?) and then - if need be - Bryant can slide to LF if he's no longer able to perform at 3B.

But to keep the infield as is - along with signing somebody like Schwarber, will simply frustrate the pitching staff watching 3 guys playing soccer with balls in play.

I think there's a good point there. Though there's the DH now, the Phillies are technically required to put someone in LF, and it might not be great to put Schwarber there 100+ games.

Phils should have aggressively signed Marte, but having missed there, I get it that the CF market is thin. I can't believe the Rays asked for the moon for Kiermeier. But, no matter what, there are better options than Herrera. Signing him tells us the Phils not only don't care about winning, but they also don't care that the fans don't want him. He has to be one of the most unpopular players in Phillies history.

This team blows. A combination of two of the better RPs to sign cost about 16 million, the combo of Hand and DV Suspension Receiver #2 costs either 12 or 13 million. Worse but at least they save a few million which is all that matters.
