If they do that, I think they'd be serious about going after Bryant.

Here's another thought: If Hosmer only costs money, and not quality prospects, maybe see if they'll eat about 25% of the contract, bring his AAV down to $11 million. Hosmer at 1B and Hoskins at DH improves the team and gives the LH bat we need.

Then sign Bryant anyway

Word is, Dombroski has NOT been given the OK to go over the new tax threshold. I just dont get it. So you are going to spend $229M versus $250M know that your 229M roster is not good enough?
